about
Came upon this track by chance - almost forgotten - written a while ago. I thought it was a sword-and-sorcery tale, that's all. But on re-listening, I came to a more novel interpretation. It's about A.I. - Our Magick is about to turn around & bite us in the ass - how appropriate that an old form of story-telling - the Magician Losing Control Of What He's Conjured - should have a lesson for our new age.
lyrics
Muse
Oh, Goddess, tri-part - or re-sectioned, nine
Great Inspiration - Oh, Muse, Divine
Fire my pen, my words indelible, will burn
And light the Glass of Art, so all may see & learn
Once in a far far City, where Art met Commerce, bright
And all the Drinkers/Dancers, learned the newest thing each night
A man pursued his craft, & thought to win some fame
By reconciling Art & Science – this feat would make his name
His method was arcane & modern – a curious blend of new & old
“So Mote It Be” - as Jung the Ancient Archetypes told
This man had the notion, that the oldest tales & stories
Could, by right de-coding, reveal all Cosmic Glories
That Time, & Matter, & Space & Energy
Were Water, Earth, Air & Fire – the old Mysteries
And God, & Goddess, were same as Order, Entropy
Re-paradigmed, in a new symmetry
So he drew a seven-pointed star upon the floor
And conjured up a Being, never World had seen before
Computer Avatar, or Vision, from subconscious deep
He summoned Her from need, or from the Sea of Sleep
Hooved & tentacled, beautiful, but frightening in Her power
She at once adored & awsome, invites him to Her Moonlit Bower
And so he must go, Her newest consort, & best friend
Some time She will keep him - this is his end
Caught in seeking, as She recedes into the spiral dance
He enchanted, follows, in a scientific, Gothic trance
Until his rival slays him, & he’s undone -
And this other dancer – who is he? Well, anyone...
